Frostburg Bicentennial Committee Rolls out  2nd Picturebook/Calendar

The 2012 Bicentennial Committee has completed the second in a series of three limited edition picturebook/calendars that celebrate the rich history and spirit of the Frostburg Community.

With a theme of ‘Business and Industry”, this 2011 picturebook focuses on past merchants, businesses, and services through a unique collection of images guaranteed to spark a memory or two!

“Chapters” include commerce on the road of promise, automobile dealerships, banks, coal mining, filling stations, hardware stores, rural medicine,  Frostburg Fire Department,  FrostburgMuseum, Frostburg StateUniversity, funerals and flowers, markets and confectionaries, restaurants, and the Top of Town.

The calendars are a means of fundraising for the Frostburg Bicentennial 2012 Fund.  Donations are tax-deductible and will cover community expenses for Frostburg’s Bicentennial Celebration.  Plans for September  2012 include a parade, special musical events, and a fireworks display to commemorate Frostburg’s 200th birthday.

With a donation of $25 to the Bicentennial Fund, donors will be gifted a 2011 limited edition Frostburg Calendar/ Picture Book.  Donations of $45 are gifted 2 books, and donations of $60 are gifted 3 books.  Extra books are then available for each additional $15 donation.

Donations are being accepted and picturebook/calendars are now available in Frostburg at Main St. Books, FrostburgCity Hall, and Armstrong Insurance. Checks should be made payable to the 2012 Fund.
