City of Frostburg Installs New Street Furniture

A new park bench and concrete garbage can on West Main Street

Frostburg Street Department employees recently installed nine park benches and fifteen new garbage cans along Main Street in Frostburg, Maryland. The new street furniture is intended to complement the urban landscape of the downtown business district, enhance the cleanliness and walkability of Downtown Frostburg, and provide a place for residents and visitors to relax while exploring Main Street.

The new 6’ black metal benches replaced five existing recycled plastic benches, and four additional benches were placed along Main Street. Additionally, the existing downtown garbage cans were replaced by fifteen new 30-gallon concrete trash cans were placed along Main Street. All salvageable recycled plastic benches and garbage cans were redistributed to City parks, where they will continue to serve Frostburg residents for years to come.

These downtown updates were initiated by the Mayor and Council in response to requests from local residents and downtown business owners for additional Main Street seating and garbage receptacles. The improvements were supported in whole by funding awarded to the City of Frostburg through the American Rescue Plan Act program enacted by the U.S. Department of the Treasury.
