The City of Frostburg Parks & Recreation Department is committed to providing quality recreational facilities and programs to serve the citizens of Frostburg and the surrounding communities in Allegany and Garrett counties.
The Recreation Commission meets quarterly during the months of February, May, August, and November. The meetings are on the first Wednesday of each month at 6:30 pm in the City Hall conference room. The meetings are open to the public.
Parks and Recreation
The City of Frostburg owns and maintains over 115 acres of land located in seven parks throughout the City. Within the parks, there are four playgrounds at the Community Park, Recreation Complex, East End Park, Mt. Pleasant St. Park.
The parks in the City have over 100,000 visitors per year! In addition to the many facilities owned and operated by the Parks and Recreation Department, the department also operates a summer day camp from June to August for children age 12 and under.
The Frostburg Pool
The outdoor pool at the Frostburg Community Park holds over 420,000 gallons of water and is nearly one-third of an acre in size. Season passes can be purchased for the pool as well as 15 admission punch passes. The pool opened May 31st and is open daily (weather permitting) until Labor Day weekend.
June 11- July 31: Monday - Thursday 12:00 - 7 pm, Friday-Sunday Noon - 6 pm
August 1 - Sept 1: Daily from Noon - 6 pm
August 26 - September 9: Weekends only 12:30 to 6 pm
Within the City parks, there are ten athletic fields, four outdoor basketball court, and a full-size indoor basketball court.
There are 14 different sports leagues encompassing six different sports that operate within the City.
In addition to the Parks, the City also operates other recreational facilities. These include the Frostburg Dog Park, the Rifle/Pistol Range, two stocked fishing ponds at Glendening Park and a trail connector to the Great Allegheny Passage.
The Frostburg Parks and Recreation Department is responsible for maintaining and operating the Community Center and City Place. These facilities, along with the Pavilions at the various parks are available for rent for private functions. These facilities may be reserved on the Reservations page.
